This picture shows examples of the bareroot plants that we ship. These plants are dormant and can be shipped , transplanted or potted in this state very well .This is also the the most economical way to ship since the soil is removed from the plants and the shipping cost is for the plants only.
As you can see they have an emergent tip which is normal and is not to be confused with breaking dormancy. The plants will remain in this state until sufficient warm days to signal it to begin its growing season. The woodland wildflower which have a spring growing season come up earlier than the prairie plants which have a summer growing season.
Once active growth begins the plants can no longer be shipped until they have passed their growing season and enter dormancy .
